HarbisonWalker International (HWI) SAIRMIX-7 is a wet, high-strength, air-setting refractory mortar designed for high-temperature applications. It is supplied ready-to-use and develops a strong bond as it dries.
Key features
- Bond type: Air-setting, which means it develops a rigid bond simply by drying (curing at a temperature above 230°F / 105°C). This process creates initial strength in the mortar joint before the higher service temperatures produce a ceramic bond.
- Composition: A fireclay/high alumina mortar, with an approximate alumina (??2?3) content of 42% on a calcined basis.
- Consistency: It has a thick, wet, trowel-ready consistency as supplied. Water can be added to adjust it for a thinner trowel or dipping application.
SAIRMIX-7 is designed for laying a variety of refractory firebricks and is considered a general-purpose refractory mortar. Typical applications include:
- Bonding high-duty, super-duty, and high-fired super-duty firebricks.
- Bonding 50% alumina firebricks.
- General-purpose use in demanding high-temperature environments.
